About Just Compassion
Meet Dr. Joy Heaton
Dr. Joy Heaton is the Founder and Executive Director of Just Compassion, a non-profit organization focused on the goal of providing medical and dental care to children in isolated and under-served areas of the United States and internationally.
Dr. Heaton was born in Morgantown, WV...one of the areas of the Appalachian states that will receive specific focus by Just Compassion. Dr. Heaton holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting (1987) and became a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in 1989.
She later felt a call to the ministry and earned a Master of Divinity Degree from Campbell University (NC). Dr. Heaton became a full-time pastor in 1998 and has served for almost 12 years as a pastor in North Carolina and Virginia.
Following her recovery from cancer in 2009 Dr. Heaton completed her doctoral studies at Columbia Theological Seminary in Atlanta, GA in 2011.

Just Compassion has received final notification of approval from the Commonwealth of Virginia and the IRS regarding the company's 501(c)3 non-profit status. The mission of Just Compassion will depend on the generous, tax-deductible contributions from individuals and corporations.
